Extreme heat doesn’t impact everyone equally. For those without reliable shelter or access to climate-controlled housing, high temperatures can quickly become life-threatening. At Triple C Housing, we understand that access to safe, stable housing is also access to protection from the elements—and to the peace of mind that comes with it.

New Jersey has already experienced several heatwaves this summer, with temperatures reaching dangerously high levels. For our residents and for communities across the state, this kind of extreme weather reinforces why housing is a matter of health and safety.

Here are a few simple reminders and tips we’ve been sharing with our community:

  • Stay hydrated. Drink water frequently, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
  • Avoid the sun. Limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours (10 AM–4 PM).
  • Dress light. Wear loose, light-colored clothing and use hats or umbrellas if you must be outdoors.
  • Cool down safely. Use fans, AC units, or take cool showers when needed.

If you or someone you know needs a place to cool down, call 2-1-1 or visit 211.org to locate a nearby cooling center, shelter, or assistance program. Many cities and counties in New Jersey operate emergency cooling centers during heatwaves.

As the summer continues, we encourage everyone to stay informed, check in on loved ones, and share resources. At Triple C Housing, we’re committed to supporting our community not just in times of crisis, but every day—with care, community, and choice.
